Angst! Anger! Excitement!

At this point, only 11 states do not have some form of smoking ban. Missouri is one of them. On January 2, 2011, St. Louis City and St. Louis county joined the ranks of those communities who have taken the initiative to ban smoking in public places. The response has been exactly as expected, and as recalled from when CT instituted their smoking ban in 2003: wild fear that NO ONE will EVER go to a bar again. The four-year delay in implementation to bars which earn less than 25% of their revenue from food sales has resulted in massive jockeying to get one of those exemptions; some bar-owners have shuttered successful kitchens and laid off staff so they can proudly display the warning sign on their front door.

As for us, we're going to be very busy in the coming months sampling some of the many restaurants we had been unable to enter previously.
